 I had an old photograph of my great-grandmother on her wedding day. I think around 1905. And I’d always thought it would be wonderful to have a portrait made of it. And I’d looked a few times online, but all the people I saw that did that sort of thing, the. Paintings were more of a modern style.

And I wanted something more old fashioned that would look like it was actually painted when she got married at that time. And I luckily found Hazel online and was able to have a look at the portraits she had done, and I knew immediately that she was the person that I wanted to have, do a portrait of my great-grandmother.

So I emailed Hazel and she got back to me really right away. I think she called me a few hours after I sent the email. When I talked to her, she was just such a nice and lovely person. I could tell right away that she understood what I wanted. The style I wanted. And we. Decided to go ahead with the portrait.

When the portrait was being painted. She would send me video updates of the portrait as it was being painted, and it was gorgeous. Then when she was almost through, she asked me were there any changes that I would like which was great, but of course there were no changes because it was beautiful.

You could tell from the videos. And then the painting arrived, and I have to say it was so gorgeous, more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. It literally is my great-grandmother come to life. I love it so much. It’s deeply meaningful for me to have my great grandmother. A portrait of her and I so appreciate Hazel doing it.

It is amazing how she can take from a black and white photograph and make a portrait that looks exactly like my great-grandmother, and I thank her so much.
