FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - FAQ

How much is it going to cost?

It all depends on size and numbers of people in the painting. If Hazel is outside your budget then we can recommend other up-and-coming artists.

How long will it take?

Portraits take 6-10 weeks to complete and you will be given regular photo and video updates of the portrait progressing throughout the process. You will also feed back unlimited changes until Hazel achieves the portrait of your dreams.

What if I need changes or adjustments to the portrait as it progresses?

You will also feed back unlimited changes or adjustments until Hazel achieves the portrait of your dreams. These changes and adjustments are all free and part of the quality process that each portrait goes through.

What source material will be required?

Hazel prefers high quality photos to work from. She has handpicked photographers in every state than can be arranged for a photoshoot if necessary. Ask for costs and details. If working from a live sitting - Hazel usually requires 3-6 sittings over the course of 3-4 days.

How will the portrait be shipped?

We ship worldwide. We send all portraits in specialist packaging. All portraits are sent unframed to save on costs and she can advise you on what type of frame would work well. Any shipping costs and import duties will need to be settled by the client.

Who controls the rights to my portrait?

You control where the portrait is hung and who can reproduce it. We request the right to be able to show the portrait on Hazel's website and in social media posts as long as you are happy for us to do so.

Will I get a written agreement or contract?

Yes - you will receive a signed agreement stating costs, timelines, deposit, delivery, shipping, revision policy, rights, scopes and responsibilities so that you are in full control of the process.

When do I pay?

The deposit is 50% with the balance due on completion of the portrait once you have signed it off.

Can you paint a composite portrait of two (or more) people from different photos?

Yes but it depends on the quality of the images.

What is Your Waiting List Currently?

The availability for commissioning a portrait can fluctuate depending on the time of year and my current workload. To ensure a smooth process, it's advisable to reach out to me 2-3 months before you want the painting delivered. By doing so, we can initiate discussions about the photos you'd like me to use as references for your portrait. It's important to note that the Christmas season tends to be exceptionally busy, so I recommend avoiding last-minute commission requests in December. By reaching out earlier, we can ensure ample time and attention are dedicated to creating your desired portrait.
